Earlier this year EMC released they’re new storage virtualization technology, VPLEX. In a few words, VPLEX allows for the creation of true heterogeneous storage pools across multiple arrays and data centers, therefore stretched across multiple physical locations. The magic around cache coherency allows for systems to simultaneous access the same storage again across distance, making such features as long distance vMotion a reality.
While it has been out a few months now, I’m finding that in a lot of instances customers are still confusing the difference between true storage HA and traditional replication…and specifically the business challenges and needs that each address. One simple way to gain a better perspective and understanding on how this technology can benefit your organization is to take advantage of free VPLEX training that EMC is currently offering via the site below.

Very cool stuff! Thanks for the link to the free training. While it doesn’t apply to my environment now, I’m sure it will sooner or later. Looking forward to learning more about it.
By the way, love the blogs! Keep it up! It’s hard to stay up-to-date with new technology. You guys do a great job of keeping out the fluff and breaking it down so guys like me can understand it.
